THAMES SIDE-SENSORS
FIRST ON CRASH WALLS

Thames Side Sensors, the established European leader in the design and manufacture of instrumented crash walls, is expanding into the American and Far Eastern markets following a deal with First Technology Safety Systems (FTSS).   FTSS will now promote, support and service Thames Side’s force sensing vehicle crash test walls throughout these regions.

Thames Side Sensors’ modular walls provide crash laboratories with a flexible system which maximises the number of tests that can be conducted.   The technology is increasingly in demand, particularly in North America.   Detroit based FTSS is the world’s largest developer of sophisticated crash test dummies and computer crash simulation models, with substantial experience in force measurement and instrumentation.

Commenting on the agreement, Thames Side Sensors Sales Director, Steven Brown said ‘Our alliance with FTSS is a logical step which will allow us to provide local support to existing and prospective customers in the Americas and Far East.   When looking for a partner, it was important to find an organisation that fully understood the demands of the industry for reliable and accurate crash test data collection.   First Technology more than met this criterion.’

The alliance has already borne fruit with the availability of after sales service from FTSS being one of the factors in Thames Side Sensors winning an order from PMG Technologies Canada to upgrade their crash test facility in Montreal.

The majority of laboratories conducting European NCAP crash tests now utilise Thames Side Sensors' innovative modular system.   The wall has a sensor array that can be quickly re-configured to allow full frontal, off-set, insurance, and angular tests to be made using the same set of force sensors.
