STOCK CONTROL PROBLEMS
CLEARED UP WITH LOAD CELLS

Load cell specialist Thames Side Sensors has been chosen to supply load cells for award-winning vacuum cleaner manufacturer Dyson’s new plastics storage silo.   The 10 m high silo, supplied by Braby for Dyson’s Malmesbury plant, will be used to store up to 35 tonnes of ABS plastic granules which are used to produce the grey moulded parts of the popular Dyson machines.

With plastic parts for 8000 vacuum cleaners manufactured every day, accurate stock control is essential at Dyson’s new plastics moulding plant and late delivery could close down all 20 moulding machines.   The new silo will therefore be mounted on three T90 30 tonne folded shear beam load cells to ensure that stock levels can be quickly checked and fresh stock ordered well in advance.

The three T90 load cells will be supplied with mounting assemblies designed specifically for silo, tank and vessel weighing.   Available in capacities of 500 kg to 30 tonnes, the T90 incorporates resistance to side loading attributed to shear beams and insensitivity to shifts in the load point.   The T90 is sealed to IP67 and features a corrosion-resistant coating for use in harsh environments.
